Kahlúa is made with 100% Arabica coffee beans and rum. These authentic ingredients give it a smooth and distinct coffee flavour that’s perfectly balanced with sweetness for a delicious taste experience. If we say so ourselves.

Does Kahlúa coffee liqueur have real coffee in it? Does it contain caffeine?

Yep, it’s not flavouring. Kahlúa contains about 100 ppm caffeine, which translates to about 100 ml / liter of product. So, for a standard 1.5 oz drink of Kahlúa there would be about 5 mg of caffeine.Just to put it in perspective, an 8 oz brewed coffee can contain up to about 200 mg of caffeine.

How do I store Kahlúa coffee liqueur?

Kahlúa doesn’t need to be refrigerated. But we strongly recommend storing it in a cool, dry place once it’s opened, and out of direct sunlight if it’s open or un-opened. This ensure the best shelf life and longevity of the product.

What does Kahlúa coffee liqueur taste like?

As the name suggests, Kahlúa coffee liqueur boasts the deep, rich flavour of real black coffee. This taste profile is blended with hints of vanilla, chocolate, indulgent sweet butter and exotic spice. Sounds delicious, right? We think so.

Does Kahlúa coffee liqueur go bad?

For Kahlúa Original, we recommend a shelf life of 4 years. Actually, the product will be good for many more years, but the coffee impact fades over time, so it won’t give you the full flavour. Also, if you were to receive an old bottle of Kahlúa, make sure it has never been opened or tampered with.

Is Kahlúa coffee liqueur gluten free?

Technically, yes. The processes of distillation should eliminate cereal proteins from distilled spirits drinks and therefore distilled drinks are generally accepted for a gluten-free diet. We do not add any known gluten ingredients in Kahlúa Original or any of the Kahlúa Flavours. Please note, however, that we cannot offer specific advice, and recommend you discuss these matters with your medical or dietetic advisors.

Is Kahlúa coffee liqueur vegan?

No. Kahlúa Original, Kahlúa Flavours and Kahlúa Ready-To-Drink (RTDs) are NOT acceptable for a vegan or vegetarian diet. We do not add animal derivatives into our products. However, one of our sugar suppliers uses a process that is not considered vegan-friendly. While this is a common practice in the sugar industry, it unfortunately also means we are unable to say Kahlúa is suitable for a vegan or vegetarian diet.
