0.5 oz Simple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)

1 cup Ice

Chocolate syrup (for garnish)

HOW TO MAKE
  1. Take a hurricane glass (or any large, tall glass) and make a swirl inside, using chocolate sauce. Place the glass in the freezer to chill while you prepare the drink.
  2. In a blender, combine the ripe banana, Kahlúa coffee liqueur, dark rum, banana liqueur, milk (or heavy cream), and ice. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add the simple syrup as well.
  3. Give the mixture a thorough blitz, until smooth and creamy, making sure the banana is fully pureed and the ice is well-crushed.
  4. Take the chilled glass out of the freezer and pour the blended mixture into it.
  5. Top with a swirl of whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, and a slice of banana on the rim of the glass.
PRO TIP

Depending on the ripeness of your banana, you might not need the simple syrup. Taste the mixture before adding any extra sweetness. And remember, the riper the banana, the sweeter the cocktail!

DIRTY BANANA COCKTAIL FAQS

Can I use a different type of milk or cream?

Yes, you can use any milk or cream you prefer. For a lighter version, our cocktail pros suggest using skim milk or almond milk. For a richer, more indulgent drink, go for heavy cream.

Can I use frozen bananas?

Yes, using frozen bananas can make your Dirty Banana even creamier and colder. Just skip adding ice or reduce the amount to avoid over-thinning the drink.

What’s the best way to garnish the Dirty Banana cocktail?

A swirl of whipped cream and a slice of banana on the rim are classic garnishes. For extra flair, we love to add a drizzle of chocolate syrup on top and inside the glass. Yum!

What if I don’t have a hurricane glass?

No problem! You can use any large, tall glass to serve your Dirty Banana. Just be sure to chill it in the freezer first for the best experience.

Why is my Dirty Banana too thick?

If the drink is too thick, you can thin it out by adding a little more milk or reducing the amount of ice. Blend again until you reach your desired consistency.

Why do people typically use Kahlúa in the Dirty Banana recipe?

Kahlúa is ideal and most popular for the Dirty Banana because it adds a rich coffee flavor that complements the sweetness of the banana and chocolate. Its smooth texture blends seamlessly with the other ingredients, enhancing the drink’s overall flavor profile and ensuring a well-rounded, indulgent cocktail experience.
